Ben’s Soft Pretzels Takes Bite out of Pretzel Market in Northern Michigan Amish-Inspired Soft Pretzel Bakery Plans to Open 10 New Locations over Five Years; Hosts “Meet the CEO” Franchisee Discovery Day Event on November 28 at the Grand Traverse Resort

Ben’s Soft Pretzels, the fastest growing pretzel franchise in the US, announced plans today to expand its brand presence in the Northern Michigan area by bringing 10 new locations to the market by 2021. With two locations already operating in the Northern Michigan market (Alpena and Traverse City), the region has been identified as a sweet spot for growth.

Aspiring entrepreneurs and seasoned business owners alike looking for a unique business opportunity can meet the Ben’s CEO and Northern Michigan native, Scott Jones, on November 28 at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City during a the “Meet the CEO” Discovery Day Event. Attendees will learn about the Ben’s Soft Pretzels franchising model and business opportunities in Northern Michigan, speak with the CEO and other company executives, as well as have the chance to try the legendary pretzels. Space is limited and interested attendees can visit benspretzelsfranchising.com/northernmichigan to sign up. There is no charge or obligation to attend.

To accelerate development in the Northern Michigan area, Ben’s Soft Pretzels executives are now looking for entrepreneurs who are looking to open multiple locations, as well as single unit operators. The soft pretzel franchise is targeting locations inside enclosed regional malls, select lifestyle and open-air venues, as well as Wal-Mart and Meijer supercenters. Total job creation is forecasted to reach approximately 10 managerial positions, 45 line workers and three Executive Area Managers.

The growth aligns with soft pretzel bakery’s national expansion efforts, which includes an addition of up to 50 new locations in 2017. This year alone, Ben’s Soft Pretzels opened nearly 30 new locations, including opening bakeries in eight Meijer superstores, and has the opportunity to open inside every newly constructed Meijer location and numerous existing locations due to a signed Master License Agreement. Ben’s Soft Pretzels also holds a similar agreement with Wal-Mart and their Master Lease Agreement, which allows the company to open a pretzel bakery in any open Wal-Mart tenant space.

With 78 locations nationwide in eight states, Ben’s Soft Pretzels is responding to the demand from Northern Michigan pretzel lovers for the bakery’s salty and sweet treats. All Ben’s Soft Pretzels are hand-rolled with imported German salt and the final result is nearly two times the size of other soft pretzels. The bakery also offers Buggy Bites, Pretzel Stix, Pretzel Dogs, and Pretzel Pocket sandwiches. Pretzel fans can pair their pretzels with eleven different gourmet dipping sauces.

“There is nothing better than the first bite of a warm pretzel from Ben’s Soft Pretzels. We were founded on the idea that every single pretzel would be rolled with love and as we’ve grown from a farmer’s market stand to a national brand, that vision has never changed,” said Scott Jones, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Ben’s Soft Pretzels. “Today, we’re looking for entrepreneurs who are just as excited about our product as we are and someone who is thrilled to join a dynamic, growing team of pretzel fanatics.”

Jones is a Northern Michigan native and believes expanding into his hometown area is the perfect next step.

Ben’s Soft Pretzels has been featured on national TV shows and networks such as the Today Show, Fox & Friends, ESPN and more.

Priding itself as a concept that offers a simple and easy business model, Ben’s Soft Pretzels offers a unique and broad menu, but with a limited need for inventory control. As of early 2016, all ingredients that a Ben’s Soft Pretzel owner would need to run the bakery now comes from a national distribution system created by Gordon Food Service. The newly found relationship has created a streamlined and cost-effective system that will deliver products right to bakery’s doors. The investment levels to open a Ben’s Soft Pretzels bakery ranges from just $118,500-$332,000.

Founded on Godly principles nearly eight years ago, a local business man (Brian Krider), a pretzel fanatic (Scott Jones), and an Amish baker (Ben Miller), came together to start a pretzel business. Ben and his wife, 3rd generation Amish bakers, perfected the Amish/Dutch dough recipe that is used to this day in all Ben’s Soft Pretzels. The first Ben's Soft Pretzels bakery opened in Concord Mall in Elkhart, Indiana. The brand has been exponentially growing ever since.
